Eureka Courthouse Groundbreaking
July 15, 2013 / Ninth Circuit Public Information Office
Judges, court staff, special guests and members of the community gathered July 8, 2013, for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new United States Courthouse in McKinleyville, California. The nearly 23,000 square foot courthouse, scheduled to be completed in 2014, will include a courtroom and chambers for U.S. Magistrate Judge Nandor J. Vadas and space for the bankruptcy court, probation office, U.S. attorney's office, and the U.S. Marshals Service. The new facility will replace the existing U.S. Courthouse in Eureka which was damaged in the last earthquake and does not meet current seismic, life-safety, accessibility, and security requirements.
