Flags Fly at Half-Staff for Judge James R. Browning

Flags at state and federal buildings in Montana fly at half-staff in memory of the late Chief Judge Emeritus James R. Browning, who was buried today in Billings.  Judge Browning served on the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals for more than 50 years, and was the longest serving federal appellate judge in the nation.  The federal courthouses pictured above, clockwise from top left, are the James F. Battin U.S. Courthouse in Billings; the Russell E. Smith Federal Building and Courthouse in Missoula; the Mike Mansfield Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Butte; the Paul G. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse, Helena; and and the Missouri River Courthouse, Great Falls.
