Judicial Council - Judicial Conference

· Conference of Chief District Judges

The Conference of Chief District Judges, which consists of the chief judges of the 15 judicial districts within the circuit, advises the Judicial Council on the administration of justice in federal district courts. The conference considers various matters, including personnel policies and practices, funding and staffing, space and security, and the implications of significant new legal decisions. The chair of the conference, which rotates among the members, represents the group at meetings of the Judicial Council.

 

· Conference of Chief Bankruptcy Judges

The Conference of Chief Bankruptcy Judges consists of the chief judges of the bankruptcy courts in the circuit, the chief judge of the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, and a recalled bankruptcy judge representative. The conference focuses on various matters involving the application of federal bankruptcy law and the administration of bankruptcy courts. The chair of the conference, which rotates among the members, represents the group at meetings of the Judicial Council.

 

· Magistrate Judges Executive Board

The Magistrate Judges Executive Board communicates to the Judicial Council on behalf of the more than 120 full-time, part-time and recalled magistrate judges serving in the district courts. Magistrate judges support district judges in a variety of judicial matters with duties ranging from handling petty offenses to taking felony pleas. All of the 15 judicial districts of the circuit are represented on the board. The chair of the board, which rotates among the members, represents the group at meetings of the Judicial Council.
