Court Memorial for Judge James R. Browning Set

The United States Court of Appeals of the Ninth Circuit has scheduled a special session for September 21, 2012, in San Francisco, to celebrate the life and memory of the late Chief Judge Emeritus James R. Browning.  The proceeding will take place at 3 p.m. in the ceremonial Courtroom One of the James R. Browning U.S. Courthouse, 95 7th St., San Francisco. 

Judge Browning, 93, died May 5, 2012, after an illness.  He had served on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for more than 50 years, including 12 as the court’s chief judge, and was the longest serving appellate judge in the history of the federal judiciary.

The Browning family is planning to have services and burial for Judge Browning in Billings, Montana, on Friday, May 25, 2012.
